About Thank You Thursdays: Aspect Foundation’s inbox is flooded with notes from students expressing their gratitude for the experience they have had on student exchange. Every Thursday, we post one of these notes, sharing the “warm fuzzies” with all of you!
You don’t need to live in a big city or attend a big school to host one of our exchange students. They come here to experience the American way of life, and all that means is your open heart and a loving home! Therese’s Thank You letter below will show you just that, and just how much our students appreciate the experience.
“When I first decided I wanted to become an exchange student I didn’t exactly know what I was putting myself into, but now that my exchange year is almost over I’m so glad I did it. I didn’t know that I was coming to the best family I could have ever gotten, and I didn’t know I was coming to the small-town of Decorah. Which is a lot smaller than where I come from, but I have really enjoyed this. I get along so well with my family, and we’re always there for each other. I am a part of the family and we have done so many fun things during this year. I know that when I get back to Norway we will still continue keep in touch. I have also had a great experience going to an American high school, where I’ve gotten to experience the different sports, homecoming, prom etc. It have been so much fun also having the different classes and experiencing your school lunch, not similar to the one we have. I’m so grateful for all the amazing friends I’ve gotten and couldn’t asked for better friends. We have had so much fun together! I can’t pick only one thing that was the best experience during this year. I am so happy I did this, and I would have done it again if I had the chance. I’m going to miss all of you.”
