Life in the U.S. / Thank You Thursdays

Thank You Thursday – January 14, 2016

Aspect Foundation’s inbox is flooded with notes from students expressing their gratitude for the experience they have had on student exchange. On Thursdays, we post one of these notes, sharing the “warm fuzzies” with all of you!

Today’s Thank You Thursday is from Nicola from Italy, living in Nebraska.

“Hi Julie,

I choose to write a thank-you letter to you.

You’re an awesome coordinator. You always ask your exchange students how they are doing and you have the amazing gift of making people feel sure and at home. You make us feel free to tell you everything. You are like another mum for me.

I would also like to thank you because when I had to talk to you, you were there for me, to listen to my problems, insecurities and concerns. You were ready to share your life and your experience with me.

I could see that the light in your eyes were different from the light in the eyes of a normal human being. Your eyes were brighter, they were sincere, they were warm. It was like a hug of comfort. I could see you were doing that with your heart and soul. It was an indescribable feeling.

I want to thank you for the advice you gave me. I was in a terrible situation. I wasn’t actually, but I was feeling that way because I felt that my responsibilities were huge and that I had to carry them on my own shoulders, by myself. But you taught me how not to, and all the advice you gave me helped me a lot to see the world in a different perspective.

With your help, I was born again. My personality has changed and I can finally see again all the rainbows and the unicorns surrounding me, the rainbows and unicorns I used to see.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you again.

— Nicola from Italy :)”
