Thank You Thursday – Thea from Norway – 4/20/17

(Thea from Norway Studying in Texas )

Aspect Foundation’s inbox is flooded with notes from students expressing their gratitude for the experience they have had on student exchange. On Thursdays, we post one of these notes, sharing the “warm fuzzies” with all of you!

Today’s Thank You Thursday features Thea from Norway, who is studying in Texas with the O’Connor family. Read her letter to her host family below!

I’ve now lived with my amazing host family for 8 months and everyday I realize how lucky I got with my family. I didn’t know who I was going to live with until 3 days before I left, this was such a nerve wracking way to start off my exchange year. But everything worked out so well and I honestly think I got the best host family. I have two amazing host sisters who made me feel so welcome and made sure we always had fun, even if we were just hanging out at the house or going somewhere to get food.

I also have the most amazing host parents that always plan fun weekends and activities for us to do so I get to see and do everything in Houston. They made sure I got the most out of my exchange year and I will always be grateful for everything they’ve done for me. I’ve been lucky to travel to Austin, San Antonio and Los Angeles with my family and I’ve never had so much fun seeing a country before. They made sure I had fun celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter in the American way, and I loved how different it was from what I was used to.

In less than 50 days, I unfortunately have to leave my family and friends here, but I will always be grateful for the experience and everything I’ve learned.  My host family is the best part of my exchange year!

With love,
Thea
