Last month, thousands of young people around the world once again came together in the spirit of helping others during Global Youth Service Day. With the tagline “Your Story Starts Today,” Youth Service America encouraged young people to see the power that they have right now to make a difference. Groups of Aspect exchange students around the U.S. started telling their stories by participating in diverse service projects, donating bags filled with goodies and resources to groups in need in their host communities. Today, we want to recognize and give a big thank you to everyone who participated and continues to tell their story, share their gifts and make the world a better place.

International Coordinator, JennyLyn, says, “We did a service project for a local preschool. The preschool is a “dirt learning” preschool. We helped to clean up the dirt by raking it and cleaning the yard. We weeded the flower bed and planted flowers. We filled goodie bags with preschool books, markers, and bubbles. These will be distributed to preschool kids at the end of the school year.”

International Coordinator, Susan, says, “Our Colorado kids had a fun day putting together our project to benefit Venezuelan refugees in our area! We purchased kitchen supplies for families in need.”

International Coordinator, Jennifer, says, “Each student filled 3 bags, one for someone they appreciated, and two with school supplies, toys, and snacks for someone in need. We volunteered at a food pantry in a homeless shelter and donated the bags to the residents!”
