Thank You Thursday – Sarah from France

Thank You Thursday is here and this week we are featuring Sarah from France, who spent her 2023/24 school year in Illinois! Sarah tells us how she has made a wonderful new life thanks to her loving host family, friends, and American community! Sarah adds, “It was a really great year that I’m going to remember for the rest of my life!”

There it is – the end has come! I’m not the girl I was when I first arrived here. I made myself a second family, who I promise I’ll come back to one day. I met amazing people who became my friends and teachers who taught me more than just lessons – they taught me life! I made a whole new friend group that will always be a part of me. I made myself a whole new life! I joined the class of 2024 at Arcola High School, and they made me feel like I belonged, like I’d known my classmates since the beginning of high school, even though I wasn’t there.

To my host family and friends, I want to say a thousand thank you’s! Thank you for welcoming me into your home and making me a part of your routine. Thank you for driving me around and showing me new stores and restaurants I never knew existed.

Thank you for including me in your plans, for making me feel like a new member of your amazing family and most of all, for all those memories. This year was nothing like I ever imagined, it was even better. Thank you, Purple Riders!
