Isaure from Belgium is spending her 2024-25 school year in Texas, where she brought her lifelong love for basketball to the court. This season, she helped make school history as part of the first girls basketball team in her district to win the state championship, and her teammates even called her their lucky charm. Congratulations to Isaure for making an unforgettable impact on and off the court!

I decided to join the basketball team because it’s my favorite sport! It’s one of the reasons I decided to come to the USA because I wanted to see if American basketball is any different from how we play in Belgium and I can confirm it is a little different. Being part of this team, I made a lot of new friends, and it really helped me integrate easily. My coaches are truly the best I’ve ever had, and I’m so grateful to have found them because they are amazing people.
I joined a team this year, but I also gained a new family, filled with incredible people. My friends are there for me, and I know they won’t let me down. With this team, we participated in the state tournaments and became state champions. I was so happy to have been part of this adventure, which was a first for me and for my team. We are the first girls basketball team to win State in our district. We made history that day.
We worked hard, tirelessly, to get to this point, and I’m so grateful to have experienced it with them. And a funny little story, they thought I was their lucky charm after that. Anyway, it was one of the best years of my life, and if other exchange students like me can experience that, it’s just incredible.
