Life in the U.S. / Thank You Thursdays

Thank You Thursday – Mirja, Jennifer, and Mariam

For today’s Thank You Thursday, we’re absolutely thrilled to share not just one, but three wonderful thank-you letters from our 2023/24 students – Mariam from Georgia who is part of the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program sponsored by the Department of State as well as Mirja from Germany and Jennifer from Italy. Each student thanks their American host family for the once in a lifetime experience, where they have built fond memories and developed lifelong relationships.

I don’t know how to express how thankful I am to be part of this. Without my host family, this wouldn’t be happening right now and I would miss the best experience of my life. They are kind and I found a second home, which I am very thankful of.

I am really thankful for my host family for choosing to welcome me into their family and always making me feel part of it, for all the experiences they are allowing me to have and for all the affection they give me, making me feel at home even on the other side part of the world. I couldn’t ask for a better family for my year abroad.

My exchange year is the best thing ever happened to me! Every day brings me joy and I can’t imagine my life without this experience right now! How welcoming everyone is, it’s just crazy! I’m thankful for my host family, which I consider as my own now and I’m thankful for my friends that are always supporting me! This country’s hospitality is really special! I’m glad that I’m here and I can’t wait to implement this experience in my home country!
