Life in the U.S. / Thank You Thursdays

Thank You Thursday – Nicolas from Spain

As the end of the summer approaches, we wanted to share one last special letter written by one of our 2023/24 students. In this touching letter, Nicolas from Spain reflects on his exchange experience in Arizona and thanks his American host family for not only their kindness, but also for embracing him as part of their family. This letter beautifully captures the lasting impact a host family can have on a student’s life and the relationships that form from welcoming an Aspect student!

Dear Gina,

First of all, I want to thank you for opening the doors of your house for me and treating me like one of your children. It was what I needed the most, and unfortunately, my mother from Spain was not there to love me and take care of me but you came to my life to comfort me and give me what I missed the most, a mom. From the very first moment, you were always there for me. Thank you for all the advice you have given me, the things you have taught me, the times we cooked together, and for making me happy in those days when I was a little sad. Above all, thank you for giving me everything you could. You will always occupy a very big space in my heart.

To you, Dan,

Thank you very much for making me laugh so much and treating me like a son from the first moment. It’s something I’ll always be grateful for. But above all, thank you for being the one who draws a smile on my face every day. I really appreciate all the things you have taught me, and the advice that will undoubtedly help me in the future. I love you.

And above all, to you, Raina,

I don’t know what would have become of me without my older host sister behind me to get me out of all my complicated situations. Thank you for treating me as family from the first moment, always understanding my situation, and loving me as one more. With you, I have one more place to call home. I will definitely visit you again. I love you very much. ❤️
