Be open and talk to as many people as you can. Always stay respectful and kind. Remember that for most people this is their day-to-day life, so to make plans and get into friend groups, you have to talk to people and do activities with them.

– Zoe from Germany

Be active and engaged in the community, school, and programs. Say “yes” more! Some things are once in a lifetime. Don’t hesitate to ask for guidance or help.

Go for it! This one year changes you, changes the way you think and perceive things. The bonds you make. It is such a culturally rich and amazing experience.

Don’t be afraid of new beginnings, you’re stronger than you think. Try new things and get outside of your comfort zone. Say “yes” to new plans and new possibilities, you’ll learn a lot. Join an activity or sport to get to know more people. Be kind and try to always have a smile on you, because it will eventually inspire others around you and you’ll make a big impact in the community. Good luck, you’ve got this! 🙂
