Following Adele’s recent spotlight on our blog, we invited some of her former students to reflect on what she meant to them during their exchange year. Below are a few messages that show how much Adele made them feel welcomed, cared for, and part of something truly special!
“Ten years ago, Adele was the first familiar face I saw when I landed in Utah, and I was the first exchange student she ever met, starting this whole experience together! Besides being the best coordinator ever, she and her husband, Lane, became my family during that first week, before I met my official host family. She quickly became much more than just a coordinator, she became part of my family.
The love and care we received from them was truly amazing. She’s so dedicated to all her students, always finding the best host families and making sure everyone has the best experience. I’m pretty sure she and Lane hold a special place in every exchange student’s heart they’ve ever met!
I am still forever grateful to them for giving me the chance to live such a rich experience, which remains to this day, one of the best of my life. Love them so much and can’t wait to see them again!”

“Adele is absolutely one of a kind. Kind, generous, and loving. She always went the extra mile as a coordinator, and I can’t help but look back fondly on the time I shared with her in Utah. I especially loved every time she took her exchange students on an adventure. I still remember the feeling of hopping in her car and buckling up for a fun day with just her and us. Thank you, Adele!”

“Adele is one of the most loving people I know. She is open to any and everybody unconditionally and will listen to you closely or just give you a warm hug. I still think about her and her husband regularly and still keep them as role models throughout life. To love and cherish life whatever it throws, be thankful, and love one another. It was a privilege to be one of Adele’s first students, and I will never forget the fun moments singing on road trips, making an emergency stop at a German bakery, or eating a bucket of ice cream.”

Dear Adele,
I hope you, your husband, and your son, little Chance, are doing well.
Thank you so much for being my coordinator. You have always supported me during my exchange year and made me feel welcome in Utah. You have a big family, and even then, you still had a place in your heart for exchange students like me.
It’s been almost six years since my return to Turkey, yet I still think about my exchange year every day and all the good memories it brings back to me. I’ve kept the postcard you gave me.
