Thanksgiving is always a fun and meaningful time for our exchange students. They enjoy experiencing and learning about an American holiday, trying new traditions, and spending time with their host families, other students, and their International Coordinators. Many even shared a bit of their own culture by making dishes from home! Here’s a look at how some of our students across the U.S. spent their Thanksgiving and made the most of the holiday together.

Akbar from Tajikistan, Abdallah from Tanzania, and Ruben, returning from Spain, enjoyed Thanksgiving and cutting down Christmas trees. Abdallah got to experience his “first snow,” which was fun for everyone to watch!

For our International Thanksgiving, my students from Kyrgyzstan took the opportunity to give a presentation about their country to all the host families and students. They made samsy, which was a hit with everyone! Ashfiya from India also made dal and rice to share with the group, and everyone loved it. All my other students brought food from their countries too. It was awesome!

Exchange student Thanksgiving! Learning the story of Thanksgiving and its history, while celebrating with each student and family. The students all brought a holiday dish from their countries. This is my favorite activity because of all of the sharing!
