Matching Outfits, Endless Love!

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we wanted to share a sweet story about host mom and International Coordinator, Adele from Utah, and her exchange daughter, Soline from France. It all started with accidentally matching shoes, but now, they’re all about twinning in style! It’s wonderful to see the joy that they bring to each other’s lives, and their story serves as a beautiful reminder of the special relationships that can develop through hosting an Aspect exchange student. Here’s to celebrating Mother’s Day with laughter, fashion, and those special moments that make us smile.

International Coordinator and host mom, Adele, says, “It all began when my exchange daughter, Soline, wanted to shop for shoes, so I took her to the mall. She found a pair and asked for my opinion. I wasn’t really paying attention but told her I thought they were a good choice. I was just looking through the store and had no intention of getting shoes but decided I would grab a pair of walking shoes anyway. As I selected a pair I liked and headed for the checkout, we discovered I had picked identical shoes to hers. We decided it would be fun to have matching shoes!”

Adele continues, “As we prepared for a trip to Croatia, Soline thought it would be funny to have matching jackets and t-shirts that said, “If I get lost, take me to Soline” and “I am Soline”. Soline said it reminded her of a TikTok, where she saw a mom and daughter post their outfits of the day. It was a great laugh and led us to do matching outfits for the entire trip, even down to our socks and PJs. Since it was so much fun hearing everyone’s comments, we decided to do the same for our trip to Puerto Rico.”

Soline adds, “I loved matching outfits with my mom. I felt like it brought me even closer to her in some ways! We got to spend time together when we went to the store and had lots of fun buying outfits, but also picking which one we were going to wear everyday and showing it to everybody! We also have some pretty cool memories at the airport. People would make such funny comments about our outfits! We laughed a lot!”
